EUDR for soy

EUDR software for soy, where the plots are large and the files larger.

Soya beans, flour, oil and oilcake are in scope. Soy farms are big, so every plot is a polygon, and polygons from GIS can have thousands of vertices. EUDRplot checks them, simplifies what is too large, and keeps them per product.

What soy files look like

Polygons from farm GIS or from national rural registries, often as shapefiles in a local projection, with boundaries detailed to the metre. A trader's file for one shipment can cover hundreds of farms and run past the 25 MB the Information System accepts per statement.

The problems to expect

Files over 25 MB. Polygons with holes for reserves and wetlands. Coordinates in UTM or a national datum. Multipolygons where one member is invalid. And, because farms border native vegetation, plots that touched forest in 2020.

Keeping files under the limit

Simplification removes vertices that do not change the shape; the splitter divides a file across statements. Both show the change in area per plot, and neither moves a boundary by more than you allow.

Questions

Are soya beans for sowing covered?

No. Since Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/2102, the entry is 1201 90 00, soya beans other than for sowing.

Does soybean meal count?

Yes. Flour and meal (1208 10) and oilcake (2304) are in Annex I, as is soya-bean oil (1507).

What about legal reserves inside a farm?

They are part of the farm's land but often drawn as holes. The Information System refuses holes; the hole splitter turns such a polygon into pieces it accepts.
