EU buyers must include the geolocation of every plot their products came from (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, Art. 9(1)(d)), and they get it from you. A file that fails in the EU Information System comes back, often after the shipment has left.

Getting it right the first time (free)

  1. Map the plots. A point for plots of four hectares or less, a polygon above (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, Art. 2(28)). See mapping with a phone.
  2. Build one file for many members. A cooperative file is usually Type II: every plot needs a two-letter ProducerCountry (GeoJSON File Description, File Variants Description, Type II).
  3. Check it. Drop it on the checker. It works offline once loaded, and your members' data stays on your computer.
  4. Fix and send. Apply the fixes, download the GeoJSON and the change log, and send both. Every fix and download here is free.

If you place goods on the EU market yourself

Since the 2025 amendment, micro or small primary operators in low-risk countries (producers placing their own produce on the market) submit a one-time simplified declaration and may give postal addresses instead of geolocation (Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, Art. 1(5)). See the glossary entry.
