EUDR for cattle

EUDR software for cattle and beef, establishment by establishment.

For cattle, geolocation means every establishment where the animals were kept, from birth to slaughter. Hides and leather left Annex I in September 2026; live cattle, beef and offal remain. EUDRplot keeps the establishments per product and checks them.

What the geolocation is for cattle

Article 2(28) makes cattle the exception to the polygon rule: the geolocation is that of the establishments where the animals were kept. Cattle move between breeding, rearing and fattening farms, and every one of them counts.

What changed in 2026

Leather importers and tanneries left the regulation's scope with Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/2102. Beef, live cattle and offal stayed, and frozen tongues join from 30 December 2027. If your products include hides or leather, EUDRplot flags them as no longer covered.

The problems to expect

Establishment lists without coordinates, or with coordinates for the municipality rather than the farm. Animals moved through several farms without a record of each. Ranches bordering forest that changed after 2020.

Questions

Is leather still covered by the EUDR?

No. Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/2102 removed raw hides and skins and leather of bovine animals (4101, 4104, 4107) from Annex I, from 18 September 2026.

Do I need polygons for cattle farms?

No. For cattle, geolocation is the location of each establishment, and points are accepted.

Which establishments count?

All establishments associated with raising the cattle: where they were born, reared and fattened, not only where they were last kept.
