Type I vs Type II EUDR GeoJSON files
The EUDR specification defines two variants of the geolocation file. What each is for, which properties they need, and how the checker tells them apart.
"For both variants … the file structure is the same. The only differences are in some of the properties provided" (GeoJSON File Description, File Variants Description).
| Type I | Type II | |
|---|---|---|
| Used for | The API, and the web interface's import at producer level | The web interface's import at commodity level |
| Producers | One | Several, "grouped by the ProducerName and ProducerCountry" |
| Geometry | Point, polygon and the other listed types | Point, MultiPoint, polygon, MultiPolygon |
| ProducerCountry | Optional | Required on every feature |
| Other properties | Optional | Optional |
The four properties
Both variants use the same optional properties: ProducerName, ProducerCountry (a
two-letter ISO code), ProductionPlace and Area (hectares, for points). Anything else
is ignored (GeoJSON File Description, Definitions), which is why a misspelled name is so costly.
Which one is my file?
The file does not say. The checker infers it: more than one distinct ProducerName means Type II, and then every feature needs a ProducerCountry. If you are building a file for the API, or for one producer, it is Type I and ProducerCountry is optional, though including it costs nothing and lets the checker test that each plot is in the right country.
