Error. The Information System rejects the file, or silently stores something other than what you meant.

In short
Use the two-letter code, for example "CI" for Côte d'Ivoire, not "CIV" or "Ivory Coast".

What the Information System does

It rejects the plot. "Invalid producer country ISO2 code" is one of the common file errors (GeoJSON File Description, Common errors 12), and "every production place must contain a valid country" (Information System validation rules, Production country).

Why it happens

The code is the two-letter ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code, in capitals: CI, GH, BR, ID, VN, CO, MY. Not the three-letter code (CIV), not the name (Côte d'Ivoire), not the international vehicle code (RCI), and not lower case.

Invalid codes usually come from a spreadsheet column typed by hand, or from a system that stores three-letter codes. A few that trip people up:

WrittenShould be
UKGB
CIV, Ivory CoastCI
IDN, IndonesiaID
BRABR

What the checker reports for this file:

  1. "CIV" is not an ISO two-letter country code. Did you mean "CI"?, line 8, column 28
Before
Before. Centred on 6.1240° N, 5.1230° W.
After the fix
After the fix. Changed ProducerCountry on plot 1 from "CIV" to "CI". Centred on 6.1240° N, 5.1230° W.

Fix it in EUDRplot

  1. Open the file in the checker. Each invalid code is listed. Where the value is a country name or a three-letter code we recognise, the two-letter code is suggested.
  2. Accept the suggestion. Choose Use the ISO country code, or Fix N safe problems. Values we cannot recognise are left for you to correct in the editor.

Fix it in QGIS

  1. See which values are wrong. Open the attribute table and sort by ProducerCountry, or use the Field Calculator's Show values for the field.
  2. Replace them. Field Calculator, update ProducerCountry with a CASE expression, for example CASE WHEN "ProducerCountry" IN ('CIV', 'Ivory Coast', 'Côte d''Ivoire') THEN 'CI' ELSE "ProducerCountry" END.
