Error GEOM-007
Invalid polygon inside a MultiPolygon
A MultiPolygon is rejected as a whole if any one of its polygons is invalid, even if the rest are fine.
- Severity
- Error. The Information System rejects the file, or silently stores something other than what you meant.
- Fixed automatically?
- No, this needs a decision only you can make.
- In short
- Fix the highlighted polygon. The others are unaffected.
What the Information System does
A MultiPolygon is a set of polygons (GeoJSON File Description, Definitions), and each of them has to be valid: the problems on this page's related rules apply to every part. One invalid part is enough for the geometry to be rejected (Information System validation rules, Geolocation invalid geometry).
Why it happens
A MultiPolygon describes one plot made of several separate pieces: a farm split by a road, say. The pieces are checked one by one, and a problem in any of them is a problem for the whole feature.
The checker names the part, not just the feature, because a MultiPolygon can have dozens of parts and "somewhere in here" is not much help. And one bad part takes the good ones down with it.

}What the checker reports for this file:
Fix it in EUDRplot
- Open the file in the checker. Alongside this error, the checker reports the underlying problem (an open ring, a crossing, a hole) naming which of the shapes in the MultiPolygon it is in.
- Fix that problem. Apply the fix offered for the underlying problem. Once that shape is valid, this message goes away with it.
Fix it in QGIS
- Separate the parts. Run Multipart to singleparts from the Processing Toolbox, then Check validity to find the bad part.
- Fix and recombine. Fix it as you would any polygon, then run Collect geometries on the producer's field if you need a single MultiPolygon again.
Try it: check the example, or your own file
