Error STRU-007
Empty FeatureCollection: the GeoJSON file has no plots
An empty file is accepted as a file but records no geolocation at all.
- Severity
- Error. The Information System rejects the file, or silently stores something other than what you meant.
- Fixed automatically?
- No, this needs a decision only you can make.
- In short
- Check that your export included the layer you meant to export.
What the Information System does
A FeatureCollection with an empty features list is valid GeoJSON (RFC 7946, §3.3) but declares nothing. Where production places are given, the Information System requires their geolocation (Information System validation rules, Mandatory geolocation), so an empty file provides none.
Why it happens
{"type": "FeatureCollection", "features": []} is perfectly valid and useless. It is
the geolocation equivalent of an empty envelope.
It is nearly always an export problem: the wrong layer, a filter that matched nothing, a "selected features only" box left ticked, or a spreadsheet conversion where no row had readable coordinates. The fix is at the source.
A broken example
{
"type": "FeatureCollection",
"features": []
}What the checker reports for this file:
Fix it in EUDRplot
- Confirm it is empty. The checker reports zero plots. Nothing is drawn on the map.
- Export again. Go back to the program that made the file. Most empty exports come from exporting the wrong layer, or exporting selected features only with nothing selected.
Fix it in QGIS
- Check the layer has features. Right-click the layer › Show Feature Count. If it shows zero, the problem is in the data, not the export.
- Export all features. Right-click › Export › Save Features As…, and make sure Save only selected features is not ticked.
