EUDR geolocation for rubber: smallholder plots and tyre supply chains
Natural rubber geolocation under the EUDR: smallholder plots, points and polygons, and the 2026 changes to rubber products in Annex I.
Natural rubber, compounded and vulcanised rubber, tyres, gloves and other rubber articles are in Annex I (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, Annex I). Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/2102 removes conveyor and transmission belts and narrows the used-tyre entry to tyre treads (Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/2102).
What rubber files tend to look like
Much natural rubber is tapped on small farms and passes through dealers and processors, so files combine many small plots:
- Plots of four hectares or less can be points with their Area (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, Art. 2(28)) (Information System validation rules, Geolocation area for point).
- Larger holdings need polygons.
- Where rubber is grown east of 90° longitude (much of South-East Asia), coordinates written latitude-first are out of range and caught; elsewhere they land in the wrong place silently.
Problems to look for
- A latitude is outside -90 to 90 (COORD-002): latitude and longitude swapped, caught because longitude is above 90.
- This point has no Area, so it will be treated as 4 hectares (PROP-004): points without Area.
- Two plots in this file overlap or are identical (PLAUS-002): one farm sold through several dealers and declared twice.
Our plausibility range for rubber
With the commodity set to rubber, the checker questions a plot under 0.1 ha or over 50,000 ha. These bounds are ours, not the regulation’s, and deliberately wide: they catch units mistakes, not unusual farms. They are never a reason the Information System would reject a file.
