Warning PLAUS-002
Duplicate or overlapping plots in one EUDR file
The same land declared twice inflates your volumes and is a common sign that two suppliers submitted the same plot.
- Severity
- Warning. The file may be accepted, but something is probably wrong, or the evidence in your statement is weaker than it should be.
- Fixed automatically?
- No, this needs a decision only you can make.
- In short
- Check whether one is a duplicate. This is our own plausibility check, not a rejection reason in the Information System.
What the Information System does
No documented rule rejects overlapping plots. This is our own check (Our own check, not an Information System rule): the same land declared twice inflates the declared area and is a common sign that two suppliers submitted the same plot.
Why it happens
Two features with the same shape, or one plot lying entirely inside another, mean the same land is in the file twice. Sometimes that is a copy-and-paste mistake. Sometimes it is two suppliers, or two cooperatives, declaring the same farm, which is worth knowing before you put your name to it.
The checker currently finds identical plots and plots contained in another; two plots that only partly overlap are not yet detected. Comparing every plot with every other also gets slow on big files, so for files with more than 2,000 plots this check is switched off.

}What the checker reports for this file:
Fix it in EUDRplot
- Open the file in the checker. Each pair is listed and both plots are highlighted on the map.
- Decide which is right. If one is a copy, delete it in the editor. If both are real, check the boundaries: neighbouring fields should touch, not overlap.
Fix it in QGIS
- Remove exact duplicates. Run Delete duplicate geometries from the Processing Toolbox.
- Find overlaps. Enable the Topology Checker plugin (Vector › Topology Checker), add the rule must not overlap for the layer, and validate.
Try it: check the example, or your own file
