Reference and verification numbers | EUDR glossary
The reference number and verification number the Information System assigns to each due diligence statement, and who needs them. Also called: verification number.
“Reference number” means the reference number assigned by the Information System to the Due Diligence Statement
When a statement is submitted, the Information System assigns it a reference number and a verification number: a security number that, together with the reference number, gives access to the statement (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1565, Art. 1).
The reference number is what travels down the supply chain and to customs: it must be made available to customs before goods are released for free circulation or exported (Regulation (EU) 2025/2650, Art. 1(17)). When statements are grouped, the grouped statement's number replaces the individual ones (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1565, Art. 8a).
