Getting started with the checker
Open a file, read the results, fix what can be fixed, and download a clean file and a report: a walk through the checker in five minutes.
1. Open a file
Go to the checker and drop a file on it, choose one, or paste GeoJSON into the editor. GeoJSON, KML, KMZ, GPX, CSV and shapefiles (zipped, or the parts together) are all accepted. Nothing is uploaded: the file is read by the page.
No file to hand? Try an example loads a deliberately broken one.
2. Read the verdict
The bar at the top says whether the Information System would reject the file, and counts errors, warnings and notes. If you know the commodity, set it: for cattle, one rule changes.
3. Work through the problems
The panel on the right lists every problem in plain language. Selecting one highlights the characters in the editor and zooms the map to the place. Selecting a plot on the map selects its text. You can edit the text directly; the check re-runs as you type.
4. Fix
- Fix N safe problems applies every fix that cannot move a boundary.
- Fixes that change a boundary open a review: the proposal on the map, and every plot's area before and after. They apply only when you accept, and never beyond a 2% area change.
- Undo reverses the last fix.
5. Download
Open Download for the GeoJSON file and the change log, and on a paid plan the PDF check report. If the file is over 25 MB or has too many producers, the options to reduce or split it are there too.
Offline
Once the checker has loaded, it keeps working without a connection. Only the map background needs the internet, and the Plain basemap does not.
